“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Jesus Christ…” – Ephesians 3:20,21

In my column last month I wrote about the importance of exercising one’s faith, and I shared the faith scriptures that I declare daily. Well, this month I want to share a miracle that took place recently; I trust that it will be an encouragement to anyone who is standing in faith for a miracle of their own.

A distressing situation
A good friend of mine called me and was very distressed. Her husband had just had a ‘stroke’ and needed to be admitted to hospital. When they got there, the hospital wanted a R30 000 deposit, as well as proof that the medical aid would cover the costs. Imagine her horror when she gave them the medical aid details, only for them to come and inform her that the membership had been cancelled three months prior! She could not believe it! How, what!? It turned out that her husband had a cancerous tumour on his brain, which has since been removed, and that he had obviously been feeling some of the side effects of this tumour, including confusion and forgetfulness. In the months prior to the ‘stroke,’ he had cancelled their medical aid.

God heard their pleas
She stood there, hopeless and shocked at this news. She managed to get the deposit together by calling family and friends. Her husband was admitted. The hospital then quoted her over R200 000 for the operation and the hospital stay. She was shattered and again asked the men and women of faith in her life to pray and stand in faith with her family to get through this. Her son, who lives in America, shared his dad’s story on a crowdfunding website, pleading for donations from strangers. Within 48 hours, the exact amount that they needed for the surgery was raised and deposited into their account! How incredible is this miracle?

Put your trust in Jesus
God is for us folks – and He responds to the heartfelt cries of the righteous men and women of faith. Faith pleases God. I urge every reader to renew their faith daily by reading the Word of God. We are called to be overcomers – and we can if our faith is in Jesus Christ.
