What Does The Word Of Abba Father Teach Us About Time Management? – Part 1

– by Gerrie Bester

What would you do if you had total control over your day and your time? What would you consider to be the most important priority? Would it be in agreement with the plan and purpose that Abba Father has for you? Are you tired of saying the words, “I don’t have time?”, “I cannot get everything done”, and the one we are all familiar with, “Everyone wants everything from me immediately and I can’t be everything to everyone anymore”.

A chronic shortage of time
Do you suffer from the “chronic late-coming syndrome” or maybe you have contracted the incurable disease of “always in a rush”? Not having enough time always forms part of the diagnosis, right? Do you have burning desire to do something that Abba Father has laid on your heart, but the mere thought thereof leaves you anxious and short of breath when you imagine squeezing this task into your already cluttered diary?

How do you experience time management in your life?
What would you say if I told you that the moment you shift your focus to time management – you have already lost the battle? Why do I say this? From the time of the Garden of Eden, we see that humanity has a massive challenge admitting fault, always blame shifting to another. I am never impatient, right? It is always the other person dragging their feet and taking too long. A lack of time is always thrown forward as an excuse and never my ineffective planning, not so? Have you ever thought what it truly means when we so conveniently say, “There is no time?”.
Maybe “we over commit, underperform, and blame time?”
Have you ever attended a function where they thank those who were on time? No, we always wait a few minutes to accommodate the late comers, don’t we? How many times do we truly experience Psalm 118:24 which says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”. Do we understand what Abba Father teaches us when He says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” – Psalm 90:12.

Time is like a precious coin in our hand, a creation of God
We have the choice on how we wish to spend it, but we can only spend it once! Why do we pray – “Not my will Abba Father, but Your Will” if we are not prepared to obey? We have to face the reality that it’s impossible to manage time! You can manage your personal life and your priorities, but you cannot change and manage time. Time is set and unchangeable. We are wasting our time to think that we can control and manage time.

I ask you, does your time determine your priorities or does your time testify about your priorities?
In months to come, we will search out the answers in the Word of Abba Father regarding this subject. What is Abba Father’s Will when it comes to priorities and time management? What do we do with the fixed time that Abba grants us daily? Don’t miss this series.
