“For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them.” – Matthew 25:3. The anointing of God is the one of the most precious gifts for a believer. The anointing is there to ‘break the yoke’ over every situation and battle you face in life. God has chosen to anoint us with oil from Heaven. There will come a time in every believer’s life that a line of separation will be drawn, which will either cause someone to be accelerated or to stagnate. This is when you need the anointing of God upon your life. This anointing cannot be faked nor manufactured. When I had just got saved, my only desire was to have the anointing of the Holy Spirit on my life. I remember the decision I made to remove everything that would hinder me from running after the anointing – regardless of the sacrifice.
I put away the pleasures of life to increase my hunger for the anointing. I am not saying that it is wrong to enjoy life, but at that stage in my life, I had to make the decision to show God that I was serious about the anointing. As I continued to make the anointing my number one priority, it was not long before I realised that these sacrifices were necessary in order to increase the oil of Heaven upon my life. God wants to place an anointing on your life, but this requires a process. Just like an olive has to be crushed for the oil to flow out, God will bring you to a place of brokenness so that the anointing can be released. Let’s not be like the foolish virgins who did not have enough oil to get to the bridegroom. Let’s cultivate the anointing upon our lives.
