Blessing Through Commitment
– by Ps Lillian Van Der Westhuizen
“But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.” – Ruth 1:16-17
In the book of Ruth, we see how she was faithful to her commitment towards Naomi. I can just imagine how difficult it was to commit to Naomi who was a bitter woman. We have to die to self and value God’s divine plan more than our own to serve one another! In the life of Ruth, we don’t see God’s voice thunder down, but we see the fingerprints of God all over her life. We can look back and see how God orchestrated natural events for His divine glory. I would like to share three principles with you that will help you through your journey in life.
1. Don’t let your past hold you back to make a quality decision for your future. Your purpose is much more promising than your past!
2. Be full of faith – Have faith to believe your life will be restored!
3. Be committed to your decisions. Don’t be double-minded, for you will be unstable in all your ways (James 1:8). God commands His blessing with your commitment in life. Ruth endured her commitment to the end and she was blessed with the best!
If you ever find yourself discouraged on your journey, remember Ruth and that God works for the good of His people. “Make peace with your process” – The reward is great!
