Tamryn Klintworth – September JOY! Article

I have heard the anointing described as the tangible or manifest presence of God. This statement is both correct and incorrect. It is correct because when we experience God tangibly, we are most certainly having an encounter with the Holy Spirit. It is incorrect because the anointing is so much more than a physical feeling. The anointing is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Most High God! If the anointing was only the tangible presence of God, then what the apostle John stated about the anointing abiding within the believer (1 John 2:27) would have been entirely incorrect. To abide means to stay or make a home in. Can you imagine if the moment you did not feel God tangibly, He departed from you? How horrid! This, thankfully, is not the case.
The Holy Spirit abides within the believer forever, every second of every minute of every day. I have met believers who are Spirit-filled and eager for the Lord to move through them, however, due to the misconception that the anointing must be tangibly felt, they avoid situations in which God could use them. They simply do not feel anointed enough. Dear friend, I have learnt that once believers have been baptised with the Holy Spirit, they are anointed, whether they feel His tangible presence or not.
