Tamryn Klintworth – August JOY! Article

I remember a certain day when I was travelling through Blantyre, Malawi. While driving with a pastor along one of the local roads, we found ourselves navigating past a brushfire. I vividly remember the heat of that blaze. Pointing to it, the pastor said words I will never forget. “Ah, ah ah. That fire, it is dangerous!” His statement was innocent enough, and yet, the Holy Spirit wrapped Himself around those simple words and pierced my heart with a fundamental lesson.
“Do you know what the devil says when he sees you coming, burning with the fire of God within you?” the Spirit whispered. “Well, he gathers his little demons, points to you and says exactly the same thing – ‘Ah, ah ah. She is dangerous!’” You see, dear friend, if you are filled with the Spirit, the devil no longer sees your flesh and blood exterior. He looks beyond that, right into the fire blazing within you. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and God is described in Scripture as a consuming fire (Deut 4:24). The fire within you is none other than God Himself, and, to the devil and his demons, He appears as nothing less than pure, unadulterated firepower. You should not fear the devil, the devil should be afraid of you!
