As I was writing this article, we were about to celebrate Pentecost. As I reflected on this supernaturally momentous occasion, I was taken back to the account of creation found in Genesis. We see God releasing His light, His life, His order, and His power into a lifeless, chaotic void. The Holy Spirit was hovering over the earth and as the Word was released, everything that we now see came into being. Talk about a big bang! God’s light, life, order, and power was lost through sin.
Fast forward God’s redemptive plan in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. God’s light, life, and order was restored. Then on the day of Pentecost – God’s Power was released as the Holy Spirit was poured out on those in the upper room. This is the same Spirit who lives in us who believe. “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honour at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 1:19-20.
