Our Purpose In Life
– by Grant & Theunisina Neyt
Last month we looked at answering the important question of, “What is my purpose in life?”. We saw that the answer lies in following Christ. “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’” – Mark 1:17. This month the second part of that Scripture comes into focus. It is God’s plan for our lives that we are made into “fishers of men”. God makes us, and we act on what He has made us.
Being a fisher of men is not only reflected in our words, but also in our lifestyles and our actions. Apostle Paul tells us that we are “our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” – 2 Cor 3:1. Apostle Paul also writes in 1 Corinthians 10:31 and 16:13 that in everything we do let it be done to the glory of God and be done in love. People are looking at us to see Christ living in us. The conclusion is thus: Following Christ is our personal relationship with Him. Being a fisher of men is the result of that relationship. That is our purpose in life!
