CEF Is 80 Years Old

You can help a child to become a friend of God! This is a way to do it:

Have you ever wondered how to have a very special best friend? If you look at this golden circle, can you see where it begins and where it ends? This circle has no beginning or end. My best friend also has no beginning or end. Let me tell you about Him.

My best friend is God, the One who created the land, the oceans, the mountains, and He created you. You are God’s most special creation. John 3:16, tells us: “For God so loved the world…”. That means God loves you. God is holy. He has never done or said or even thought anything wrong. God lives in Heaven and because of that, Heaven is also a holy place. God wants you to be with Him in Heaven someday.

Heaven is a special place
Heaven is a very special place and the Bible, God’s Word, tells us a lot about Heaven. In Heaven there is no sun or moon. Heaven is full of a great shining brightness, called the glory of God, which is even brighter than the sun. In Heaven there is no time.

You don’t need any electricity or candles. There are two things on earth that makes us sad. Sickness and death. No one enjoy being ill. In Heaven there is no sickness. In Heaven no one will ever die. People in Heaven will live forever.

There is one other thing that cannot be in Heaven – that is sin
Can you think why there can be no sin in Heaven? Think of what we learned about God. God is pure, “holy”’ is the word the Bible uses … Sin is disobeying God. Sin is anything we say, do, or think that makes God sad. I have told lies – have you? God commands us to obey our parents, but I used to disobey. Sometimes I pretended I did not hear them. Have you disobeyed your Mum or Dad? Those wrong things – even if it is only one wrong thing – disqualify you from being a friend of God. God cannot allow sin into Heaven. Do you know how many people on earth do sinful things? The answer is in the Bible. Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” “All” is the answer. Does that include me? you? Yes, “all” means everyone. Everyone is a sinner, and sin cannot be in God’s home. God knew there was nothing you could do to get rid of your sin. He knew you could not be good enough to please Him. But God loves you and wants you to have a new life with Him in Heaven.

God made a wonderful plan so that you can be with Him in Heaven someday
God knew about the darkness of sin in your life. He sent His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who came into the world as a baby. He grew to be a man. He never thought or said or did anything wrong. Jesus was going around telling people about the Kingdom of His Father God. The people didn’t like what Jesus was saying and they took Him, put Him on a Cross, and nailed His hands and feet to the Cross. What came out of those wounds? Blood. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:7, “…and the Blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.” The Blood of Jesus can cleanse you from all the wrong things you’ve done. Your sins can be forgiven. Jesus Christ did that for you. Jesus died on the Cross and was buried in a tomb, but three days later God made Jesus alive and Jesus went up into Heaven where He is now sitting at the right hand of God.

Foundations for belief
These are the 3 foundations to help a child to believe in what Jesus did on the Cross. In the next issue of JOY we will show you how to invite and counsel a child to believe in what Jesus did on the Cross.
